How an NCAA Student Athlete Can Become a Male Model

It Takes Time To Bust Moves

Here are some very basic aspects of getting started in male modeling: When a new guy first begins pursuing modeling opportunities, it takes him months or years to get to know the "players" in the male modeling industry, build up male modeling industry contacts, develop promotional materials (including a portfolio) and "get known" in the business. A new male model learns how photo shoots work by posing for photographers. Through trial and error, he learns what "look" or "image" is best for him to be marketed. This may include choosing a side of his face appears best on film. Many college guys at first think smiling for photos makes them look stupid. They learn smiles sell. Many guys are worried about looking "gay" in photos. Then they do a few photo shoots, show the resulting photos to others and get a little more liberal about how they pose.

However, by waiting until your NCAA eligibility ends to begin investigating your possibilities in the male modeling industry, you miss out on years of potential promotional value.

Athletic Modeling has published many calendars featuring male college students through the years. We have years of experience encountering hundreds of varsity athletes because we frequently attempted to recruit guys for our calendars who turned out to be varsity athletes. These college athletes were forced to wait until their final year of eligibility before they could accept our offer.

Often athletes would ask their university's NCAA office for permission to model - only to return scared to the seams by NCAA regulations. These college athletes wanted to get into male modeling, but simply could not do so until their final year of eligibility.
