Pussy Whipped: Girlfriends Can Interfere With Model Careers
By Shawn Petrovich of Totally Ripped of Los Angeles, which specializes in photography and video of fitness models.
We avoid working any college guy who involves his girlfriend into our operation. Why?
College Guys who involve their girlfriends in their modeling careers do not succeed because industry professionals eventually cease working with them. These guys miss out on potential opportunities that go to other single or independent minded guys.
Girlfriends and Other Girls Oogling You
Some girlfriends do not truly want their boyfriends to "model." Yes, they want their boyfriend to be "good looking" and for his looks to be "model quality," but they really do not want him going away to photo shoots, meeting female models and certainly do not want to compete with the females who will be generated from having their boyfriend's body being advertised to other females by appearing in sexy photos.
A college pinup calendar experienced several ironic situations where a girl will submit photos of her boyfriend to the producers. However, once producers decide to offer her boyfriend a position, the girlfriend became a hindrance to the selection process and demanded her boyfriend not appear in the calendar!
When it comes time to choose the best photographs, girlfriends can spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E. A revealing photograph may be threatening to a girlfriend. When it comes to their bodies, guys want to "show it off." Girlfriends want their men under wraps.
Girlfriends Should Not Travel With Models to Modeling Jobs
If you must travel to another city to shoot a photograph, it is unprofessional to ask the casting agent or photographer if you can bring your girlfriend along. Bringing a girlfriend is worst than bringing a parent. Even if you travel to the city with her, you risk the chance of making the booker think you consider their production as a chance to take a vacation with your girlfriend.
Remember, the casting agent can always give your modeling job to a different guy who is more independent and doesn't ask something as careless and troublesome as asking to bring his girlfriend.
If you truly want to bring someone, it would be far better to bring a male friend who has modeling potential and to not mention this to the casting agent. Several situations have occurred where a guy brings a buddy - and the buddy gets also booked to model.
In summary, industry professionals tend to choose independent-minded males because they present less problems.
